YOUR COUNSELING COMPASS CURRICULUM
What does research-informed mean?
At The Responsive Counselor, being research-informed means making intentional, thoughtful decisions about how we design our curriculum based on established research and proven practices that support children’s mental health, behavior, social development, and success in school.
We combine educational and psychological research with real-world experience in counseling classrooms and offices to create resources that are not only grounded in evidence but also engaging, easy to implement, and developmentally appropriate. Everything we create is designed so that counselors can feel confident they are using tools that truly support students' growth.
Four key areas of research play a central role in how our curriculum is designed and why it works. Click each section below to further explore each category and review the key findings and supporting citations.

COUNSELOR CONFIDENCE
The Role of Self-Efficacy
Research shows that school counselors with higher self-efficacy, counselors who believe in their ability to be effective... are more effective! They get more done and provide more interventions. In addition, low self-efficacy is predictive of higher rates of burnout.
Our program promotes self-efficacy by providing counselors with the trainings and tools they need so that their ability to overcome difficulties and succeed in their role increases.

Schools and Districts
We are proud to partner with schools and districts of all sizes to get elementary counselors the support they need.
